atlanta plastic surgery cosmetic surgery reconstructive surgeryWe live in a competitive society where looking and feeling your best is an important factor in our business and social relationships. Today, men of all ages and all walks of life are requesting plastic surgery to stay competitive in the business world. Brow or forehead lifts, facelifts, necklifts are very common procedures for men. Men often desire a more balanced nose, a stronger chin, and a trimmer waistline. The procedures used to achieve these goals in men must take into consideration factors such as skin thickness, facial hair, and hair line.

A fatty or "jowly" area beneath the chin is also a concern for many men. In younger patients, liposuction alone may be sufficient to correct the problem. Older patients may require a full facelift to correct and lift the neck area, which include the removal of excess skin and tightening the platysma muscles.

This section reviews some of the special considerations for men contemplating cosmetic procedures. A consultation with board certified surgeons of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery for any facial plastic surgery and a board certified plastic surgeon for any body plastic surgery should be scheduled to address your goals and expectations.

Good communication between you and your surgeon is essential when planning your surgery. During your initial consultation, you'll be asked about your goals and expectations. It's important to set aside any awkwardness you might feel, and speak candidly about the changes you'd like to see. You should feel confident that you and your surgeon understand one another.

The doctor will review your medical history and your current medications, a more thorough exam will be done at your pre-operative appointment should you decide to schedule surgery.

Pictures will be taken to be used with video imaging which will allow you and your surgeon to better discuss your treatment options and desires. After a thorough assessment your surgeon will explain which surgical procedure is most appropriate for you.

Consultations for facial plastic surgery can be scheduled with any one of our double board certified facial plastic & reconstructive surgeons. An additional consultation with a double board certified plastic surgeon for any body plastic procedures can be coordinated to facilitate both appointments at one visit.

If you are considering facial surgery or neck surgery, your doctor will evaluate your entire head-face-neck region for receding hairline, fullness and length of the sideburns, and how far the beard growth extends into the cheek area and the neck. Suture lines are carefully planned with balding or thinning hair and can be well hidden.

During your consultation you will discuss the type of anesthesia needed and the facility where the surgery will be performed. It is important that the facility be state & federally licensed and a doctor of anesthesia should be with you during your procedure, not just on the premises.

At Premier Image Cosmetic & Laser Surgery, we pride ourselves in using only board certified doctors of anesthesia and a nursing staff not only chosen for their expertise and certifications, but for their caring attitudes. On campus is our state of the art, triple A accredited out-patient surgery center owned and operated by Northside Hospital, with exclusive use by Premier Image to provide safe, personal, and yet private care.

If surgery is desired, a pre-operative appointment will be made. Your surgeon will instruct you on pre & post operative care. A review of your medical history and medications are necessary at the consultation and the pre-operative appointment. Current blood-work results and your EKG will also be reviewed with the surgeon and doctors of anesthesia at your pre-operative exam. Instructions on eating, drinking, taking or avoiding certain vitamins and medications should be carefully followed. A post operative kit and prescriptions are given at this time.

Your surgeon will require cessation of smoking at least 30 days prior to surgery, as poor healing and other complications are frequent with smokers. Smoking inhibits blood flow to the skin and interferes with the healing process.

You will need to arrange for transportation and someone to stay with you overnight. Your surgeon will want to see you the first day after surgery, so be sure to have transportation for this visit as well.

Make a trip to the grocery store for some yummy juices, yogurt, soup, gingerale, and other easy to eat, soothing foods and beverages. Don't forget to get frozen peas, a great substitute for your ice packs.

Extensive information about the particular procedure you plan to have will be provided during your consultation and pre-operative appointments. While going over the steps of the procedure, your doctor will discuss a number of issues that may influence your surgery.
